Khalidiya, Abu Dhabi

Iftar and photography outing with friends. The plan was to shoot the same location and share results to explore differences in how we see. I shot only at night because I don't belong in heat plus sun. dubaiwalla's take on Khalidiya is here, and chu_hi's is here. :)






I have many photos of this tree.










Hot heat is hot. Time to stop tromping around in it. :)

That bed space picture is great. I love the composition and the colors. I love the picture of you with the wandering people behind you, too.

Seems I ripped off your "You Are Here" idea! I saw you poking your lens through that fence, and thought that looked rather clever. ;-)

I love the sense of light in your photos. I know I'm really personally interested in color + dark, but that doesn't mean I can't sigh over what you do. :D

He was saying something about... midcentury icons decoupled from revolution. I told him I felt it was quite hard to be a dissident. He nodded and continued.

I think so! This is one of the older and hotter parts of the city-- apart from the tree I photographed, it is now blacktopped parking plazas ringed by buildings. Not much breeze and I'm spoiled, usually there is one off the water at night.
