Sorry for overdue update-- it has been a whole lot of scary waiting up until recently, and no news! The stress was getting Heathcliff out of Pakistan to Abu Dhabi. There was corruption and there was drama, overcome with much help from wonderful people. Heefy and S. are both in Abu Dhabi and all is well and I can start breathing again (and ~finishing~ paintings, huh).

I will go myself as soon as the paperwork comes through. I'm on part three of a four-part process.

I think I held my breath for three weeks straight.

glad to hear that you can breathe easier and the move is going well, if not totally smoothly :D

I like these new paintings. I particularly like the rich, saturated... smooth? quality of them. very nice.

Thank you, they are super-glazed. Swishing melty color seems to be what I like to do at the moment.

I think my rib cage froze totally up, and now it is melting.

Your work moves me in ways that are impossible to describe with words. It is something at the core - visceral! I am grateful to be a part of your friends list. I hope to be able to afford to buy some of your work one day very soon!!! All my best to you and your family. Please update when you can.

These are beautiful! I've always appreciated your smaller works...more intimacy. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you.

I'm thinking a lot about public art and the art people choose to hang in the non-private spaces of the home, 'round the world... but these feel like a retreat and I'm glad for it.

Melty really is the word. At first glance, I thought you were painting on glass!

I've had little-to-no internet access for weeks. Is the move to Abu Dhabi a result of something originally planned, or not planned? I don't remember it before...

And as for the stress. My whole belly got tight at just the few words of struggling to get Heathcliff out of the country. I had a flash image of a rescue operation. My own boys are snoring softly on the bed across the room from me and the thought of being thousands of miles from an uncertain situation regarding them? Ack!

Now that things are more settled, I vote for you to have a spa day, or at least a massage.

I am particularly entranced by the fern in Rolling Hills. If you ever decide to do a tiny isolated study of just a fern like that, I'll be drooling and counting pennies. (I hope that doesn't sound rude. I don't mean to act like you are an art vending machine. And I loved the whole painting. That element just happened to put me into major hang time and I thought, "I want time, lots and lots of time, with Just That Fern.")

It was bad, I'm so glad it is over. At several points, it seemed like we were really not going to be able to get him out.

It took S. two weeks of work-- not just working on stuff over a two week period, but I am talking about 14 days solid of working on the problems to get Heathcliff out. (And believe me S. could have used that time for other things.) Dealing with corruption hurts.

I've been doing daily yoga classes, and fiddling with my hair. It all helps. :)

Ferns are likely, stay tuned. There are great ones wild and potted at my folks' place.

"Rolling Hills" is really lovely; it reminds me of something by Chagall.

Thank you! I think they should rename it Chagall blue. :)
