diptych in progress-- left panel
I decided to make a diptych with the two mirror frames I bought
the same place I found the Mad Phearable Lamp-- here is
the not-yet finished left panel.

The painted part is about 8" wide.

I won't push it along any more until I get the right panel to the same level
of done-- so I can work them side by side.

This is an angled detail that shows some of the collage etc.

I wish these photos had sharper detail, but the sun was setting.

P.S. Ciao to my new Italian readers! Please comment in any language you choose. :)

What an interesting subject you chose. Any particular reason? I love the collage effects and the color choice. Very interesting, indeed.
(by the by, I don't have a livejournal account but you can find me here, so I won't be so "anonymous" wildyarn.wordpress.com--You can edit that part out if you wish. Totally up to you. I'm not looking for a shameless plug, just wanted to be less ghost like since I plan to comment on your entries--chio).

Welcome! Please do comment and leave a link-- if you type out the full url it should be hot. I don't know if OpenID is any help to you. I have not learned to use it.

I'll provide some blah blah blah when I get the entire diptych on the wall-- I'm holding off because I hope the second panel "talks" to the first one above but need to see it for myself.

would I be wrong in assuming that the pill packs are antimalarials?

I like this a lot and I'm excited to see the other one. I've been waiting to see what came of the frames since you posted them.

Yes-- doxycyline, the antibiotic I was put on as an anti-malarial. No idea if I've been exposed to malaria, but the doxy has been keeping me on my feet with lung/sinus trouble from new allergens and pollution irritation.

From wikipedia:

As well as the general indications for all members of the tetracycline antibiotics group, Doxycycline is frequently used to treat chronic prostatitis, sinusitis, syphilis, chlamydia, pelvic inflammatory disease[1][2], acne and rosacea[3][4]. In addition it is used in the treatment and prophylaxis of Bacillus anthracis (anthrax) and in prophylaxis against malaria. It should not be used alone for initial treatment of malaria, even when the parasite is doxycyline-sensitive, because the antimalarial effect of doxycyline is delayed. This delay is related to its mechanism of action. Its mechanism of action against malaria is to specifically impair in the progeny the apicoplast genes resulting in their abnormal cell division.[5]

It is also effective against Yersinia pestis (the infectious agent of bubonic plague) and is prescribed for the treatment of Lyme disease[6][7][8], ehrlichiosis[9][10] and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. In fact, because doxycycline is one of the few medications that are effective in treating Rocky Mountain spotted fever (with the next best alternative being chloramphenicol), doxycycline is indicated even in use in children for this illness. Otherwise, doxycycline is not indicated in the use in children under the age of 8 years. Doxycycline, like other antibiotics, will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Elephantiasis is a disease caused by a nematode (worm) Wuchereria bancrofti. It causes swollen limbs and genitals (Filariasis) and affects over 120 million people in the world. Previous anti-nematode treatments have been limited by poor levels of effectiveness, drug side effects and high costs. Doxycycline was shown in 2003 to kill the symbiotic Wolbachia bacteria upon which the nematodes are dependent.[11] Field trials in 2005 showed that Doxycycline almost completely eliminates blood-borne filaria when given for an 8 week course.[12][13]
