I HAVE A LAMP!

PHEAR MY MAD LAMP MADLY!

My MAD LAMP was delivered on a motorcycle. I have this fantasy that it
was swung overhead/used to bash SUVs and even one Hummer.

Because my MAD LAMP is DANGEROUS, DANGEROUS TO SUVs AND HUMMERS.

I also bought two of these copper-painted tin mirror frames-- without mirrors.
I will not put mirrors in them, but something else, and will probably sand/paint on the
frames as well.

I bartered down the asking price on the frames a whole 14.3%!!!!! PHEAR MY MAD
BARGAINING SKILZ ALSO!!!!!!!!10101

I am some kind of tired and need a nap. I went out again today (on foot), walked
past four construction sites on purpose (to toughen me up), bought fabric so
I can get some proper clothes made.

At this place that was over a juice shop and a shoe store and next to a Salt and Pepper restaurant and maybe closer to the old city. They had their own parking lot in back. But this was the ONLY lamp like this in the whole building. They had many other lamps too.

Maybe on the lampshade. I like it as-is, but will probably end up painting on it, cuz that's how I roll.

I'm tempted to knock some of the copper paint off the nail heads to show what lies beneath!

The house has amazing storage and we don't have much stuff. So anything I don't want to look at just goes away. I LOVE this.

I think so too. I'd be happy as a clam if all you ever did was post paintings...but I love it when you write too. Lots of humor & insight & unique experiences. And it helps to put your paintings in context a little bit. I think, anyway. :)

That lamp is very steam punk. Love it and your new digs. Beautiful details in the place. Sounds like good bargaining too! That is always fun (in my opinion).

So are things more or less expensive, dollar wise over there?

There is a fun steampunk lj community-- did I find it through you in the first place?

I am starting to get bargaining but if an item has an actual price tag I never think to do it. I do always ask if I buy multiples.

Both more and less expensive. I paid $45 for a big bag of Purina dog chow last night, and promptly resolved to start cooking for Heathcliff. Because I could get THREE pairs of shoes for that!

I also paid $5.50 for a box of Kraft Mac and Cheese. It was family size but still. In my defense I had not really learned to convert rupees to dollars when I bought it.

What is less expensive is the time of craftspeople. Tailors, carpenters, etc.

A few months ago I was looking at making dog food. Very contradictory information out there, some say only raw meat others say only cooked. Both make good arguments. Either way it must be much more economical.

I don't think it was me with the steam punk site although I love the stuff. Which lj are you referring to, I just searched and found a bunch?

That's both good and bad news about the craftspeople. Good for the consumer but with the seemingly higher rate on goods, do they make a decent living?

I am worried about finding him hard stuff to gnaw on to protect his teeth. I may end up baking hard biscuits or something. I really didn't want to "go here."

"steamfashion"

I don't know if the craftspeople are making a living or not. Thus far I pay what they ask without trying to barter, which makes me some species of fool by certain standards.

Thus far all men. I think word of mouth is everything. One has to be able to deal with routine high-handed peremptory treatment from clients. I wouldn't make it even if I had the plumbing, as I cannot keep scorn from showing on my face.

And I had NO idea that pinhead was designing lamps. Not a lot of work for him in the horror genre anymore. So sad. But a SEXY lamp none the less!
